There are these lightweight pieces of shibori-dyed silk organza that my plan was to experiment with using magnets to hang them with. It is a great feeling to get back to this grouping. They may not be the most exciting pieces I've ever made, but for me I enjoy how subtle they are...I guess to me subtlety IS exciting! go figure...
I think of them as a study of water and light. So while I decide the colors to stitch with on the unfinished panels, I've at least made progress on figuring out how to stitch the backings, and how I could work with the magnets.
Lucky for me I have artist friends! When I shared a photo with Carleen Zimbalatti of a finished panel that was hanging with the small magnet on the front of the piece, her feedback was the magnet was distracting and to try to put it behind somehow. Thank you, Carleen, it looks much better...
