I've cut & hemmed them into five panels (it might end up being 7 -- we'll see...I have the other two ready / waiting...) that I'll combine into one large piece.
So this photo here shows the yarns I used. The warp is the hemp on the cone, the weft is that tiny little bundle -- it's what's left of a flatter silk from Habu Textiles...and the ball of yarn that's almost white is a 60/2 silk that I'm using to stitch with.
The plan is to stitch before & after dyeing...so already I've spent about 30 hrs. stitching, and I'm only on the beginning of the third panel. The foreground shows the back of the piece (backed with linen/cotton) and the stitching there. I'm hoping to combine the themes of reflection, ripples, and rain -- if that's possible. We'll see! it's something I want to try anyway....
