This piece here is not quite finished, but I wanted to share it anyway...
In the gallery below, the earlier stages of the process are shown. After deciding on those fabrics to layer with, I adhered them to the base using acrylic medium and UV protective varnish. Then I painted some darker areas using walnut ink.
I still might define some more darker areas in this piece with that ink, but I'm just sitting with it for a little while so I can decide what else it needs and where.
This 'pondering' stage is relatively inactive, but I think it's an important part of the process since it's taking the piece in during different times of day, so the lighting changes. Also, it's important because it means I'm not rushing anything for the sake finishing a piece just for finishing's sake.
