Just wanted to post an update on those pieces in progress I shared recently. My mixed media pieces have moved along well to a place where I'm really happy with them. I think they are finished, but will keep looking to make sure.
Here are photos that show the stitching details added to each piece.
Let me know your thoughts on this small body of work if you care to comment!
This piece is currently at the Stowe Craft & Design Center. Stowe is a cute little mountain village that has great shops and restaurants, and is close to a lot of great outdoor activities, so it's a tourist destination here in VT.
The owner, Susan Bayer-Fishman, has an interior design business that she runs in conjunction with the gallery, and she has a strong appreciation for fine hand-crafted work....so there's some rare finds there for unique furniture, lighting and artwork for the home or office.
The photo isn't that great (sorry!), but it shows the shapes and scene that I'm developing.
Next step on this one is to wax the fabric again anywhere that I want it to hold this greyish-purple color, then dye it a darker shade.
I'll keep you posted. Hopefully you'll see more regular posts from me since my new motto is "Make Art, Not Excuses" .... I'm thinking that would make a great bumper sticker. (will have to google that to see if it's already been done)
