Wallace is here helping me celebrate the completion of a new piece!
We hung it in the living room to try and get a photo or two, since the sunlight in my little studio is pretty bright this time of day, and shadows from the trees outside and my plants make for odd lighting.
I'll have some professional shots taken soon, so that's always a good thing. I'll be entering it into an SDA members show later this year that is in the planning stages.
The piece is called 'Pause'. It is 34"w x 30"h. There were some detail shots of this posted back when I was still working on the hand stitching.
Dye techniques are shibori, dye painting, rust print and color removal. It also has lots of hand stitching and also colored pencil.
It's protected with a UV varnish, which is something I've done a couple times on other pieces, and would like to do more of when the materials seem compatible.
I'll post this in the home page slideshow, or in a gallery soon - once I have the photographer shots.
It feels good to finish a piece early in the New Year. Hope it bodes well for more new works.....
