Woven Yardage

Very exciting progress!!!
Last weekend I was able to finish weaving up the hemp / silk warp, so have about 6 yds. of that to play with, plus another yard or so of two other weft  types that I tried first before deciding to use the silk.

My plan is to make a larger piece...but my practical side starts to argue 'how will you get it into a car' or  'shipping will be so expensive'...so I might do it in panels like 'Flow' but I'm not sure.  I keep sketching and doing the math....

I'd love to see the impact of a larger piece - and that was some of the feedback from people at a recent Artists' Talk at the Textured exhibit at VT Metro Gallery. hmmmm.....it's all good food for thought!

For now anyway, I'm sewing the raw ends of the sections I'm envisioning.  That way all that work won't unravel in the dye baths!!!

Hi Karen-----I've enjoyed reading through all your blog posts. My procrastination in following you each day actually provides a nice sense of continuity when catching up on several months. Four yards of woven cloth! What a bounty for you. And I'm curious to see how you use that copper thread. I hope you are staying warm; it 3 degrees here in Syracuse today.

Hi Nancy---
Thanks for your note!! So glad it's fun for you to 'pop-in' here to my blog :) it's nice to have visitors.....
Yesterday I got some 70/2 linen, so even though this yardage hasn't become anything quite yet, I'm already pondering what to load up on the little loom next!
Anyway, will try to get some new things on here soon.
Thanks again for writing!
:)K
